Unable to clamp bike's rear wheel

Hey anyone out there,
I recently bought an Elite qubo fluid trainer. Wanted to pair it with my road bike at home and cycle indoors.
However, I was not able to clamp onto the rear wheels of my road bike at all; there is still a gap between the clamp and the rear axle of my bike, even when fully clamped.
Does anyone know what the problem is? Last i checked, there is only 1 size for this trainer and it should be compaitable with road bikes?
I am using a cannondale, more specs of the bike can be found here if it is of any use:
https://www.cannasia.com/collections/ro ... ptimo-sora
Please if there is anyone out there who has experienced this issue or know what's wrong, let me know!!!!
It is very disheartening to purchase both a new bike and trainer, only to realize they can't be used...
Thanks in advance.
