Broken Direto axle!!

1st gen Direto been working great for 2 years. Now, horrible noises when I pedal and power readings all over the place, this started to happen after belt tightening and calibration. belt is in perfect condition and black roller is fine. There is however a lot of play in the axle that runs the flywheel and red fan. Fan and flywheel move independently a little bit. Any ideas?!! Stuck in isolation with no trainer aaaahhhhrrrrrr.........

Got a reply from Elite, I'll post it here so others can get an idea of what my problem was -

Thank you for getting in touch with us.

Concerning your request:
Unfortunately the internal shaft is broken

Please refer directly to the shop where you have purchased the trainer and ask a warranty replacement (warranty is 2 years)

REgards

Of course my trainer is just out of warranty! be interested to see how much this will cost me and if I'll just have to throw my 750 euro trainer in the bin......

Hi

Did you tell the guys of the customer care that warranty has just expired? If not, please tell them.
Usually they try to find a possible solution even if warranty has expired

I'm wondering what is needed to break a shaft that is design to handle forces from hundreds of watts. This is very strange... this part should be the strongest one. I don't think the human physical strength could break a well designed shaft, even in 2 years. And Elite should have a solution, a replacement shaft or something like that, because without that it means you lost your investment.

OK, little follow up.

I'd love to say it was my massive power that broke the axle but I doubt it!

The trainer is out of warranty so a repair will cost me 150.00 euros which is fine, I'd rather have it fixed than buy a new trainer. Only problem is shipping, going to have to work out the most cost effective option as I'll have to pay both ways.

Worth mentioning that the customer service has been very good with Elite, Thanks Andrea!!

Same problem here. Just over 2 year old Drivo 2 (£1200 trainer) has just broken. Opened up to investigate and the axle has snapped!!! Hopefully Elite can offer a solution...?
