Direto Cannot be Repaired - now what

Hi all,
Hope everyone is keeping safe and well.
I'm chasing up with the store my Elite Direto which seems to be un-repairable. I have had it over a year but none the less it should be either repaired or replaced if faulty. It seems that the distributor has issued a credit note so - suggesting that they cannot repair it and as it's no longer in stock should they replace it with the next nearest model (Direto X) in terms of performance etc - power, grade and accuracy.
I seem to recall others on here having DIretos replaced - did you get a better version or were you offered/provided something better and if so did you have to fight for it or pay any difference? Interested to hear your stories.
Interested if any of the Elite mods can also comment on what they think should happen.....
