Elite zumo - power fluctuates

Postby javi.xeneize » Sun Oct 04, 2020 6:16 pm

Hi

I bought a zumo yesterday and I am still getting into it, so it well might be my fault

I see the power fluctuating a lot both in zwift and the elite app, like 20w. I’m trying to be constant at a value, like 170w, and it goes to 150, then 190, 170, etc...

I know instant power meter can vary a lot but I was expencting much smaller jumps, like 5w or so, not 20.

Any idea what might be the problem?

Thanks

Go to MyEtraining app , connect your trainer, go to settings , find (power smooting ) , set value to 8 or 10 . Power values will be more stable .

Thanks! Will this change also affect zwift accuracy or is it only for the native elite training app?

Hi

power smoothing affects also the third party software as it is a firmware setting

Hi

I can’t see that option in the app. Where is it?

Sorry, I didn't check the first message of the conversation and replied only to the last message.
Power smoothing is only available for trainers that have a power sensor inside (Drivo, Direto, Kura...)

On other trainers, it is not present.
Also, please consider that a 20W power oscillation is normal, even pro riders have 10-15W oscillation usually.
It's due to the difference between a pedal stroke to the following one.
If you pedal with an external power sensor, you will see that those oscillation are real and always present (even with the brake not active)

This has recently started happening on my Zumo, it used to be pretty stable. There is no way a I wouldn't notice a 40w power difference due to pedal strokes, this would also get a better as cadence increases, which I don't see.
